One of the central acts of worship is hearing the Word of God preached. John Calvin said, “Wherever we see the Word of God purely preached and heard, there a church of God exists, even if it swarms with many faults.” Of course, the opposite is true as well. Where the Word is not preached and heard, there is no church. To be the Body of Christ and to worship God, we need preaching.
