Most people are happy to receive advice. Advice is optional—we can take it or leave it. But authority is different. Authority confronts us. It demands surrender. And one of the greatest temptations in modern Christendom is to treat God’s Word like helpful advice instead of absolute authority. Joshua 8 confronts that mindset head-on and all Israel gathers not to judge God’s Word, but to stand underneath it.
