A person’s character is not forged in adversity, so much as it is revealed in adversity. As Alistair Begg writes in his book, Brave by Faith, “what we are in our early years, we will be in our later years. If you think you’re going to be something at 80 that you’re not now, then you’d better start playing catch up. Don’t assume that you can be half-hearted now and then somehow make a big push later on.”
